“Do You Think Your Baby Will Survive?”

Ngwe and her husband were both sad and afraid for their daughter Yadanar (YAH-dunn-ar), who was born with a cleft lip and palate. “The first time I saw our daughter I felt sad,” Ngwe said. “I love her but wondered what kind of life she will have.”

“I have many dreams for our daughter,” added the girl’s father Myo (pronounced (me-YO). “When I found out that surgery could help her, I said I would work hard and save up for her to have it.”

Ngwe stays home to care her daughter. Her husband Myo works as a farm laborer in Myanmar. He earns just enough to make ends meet.  After 2 years they still hadn’t saved enough for their daughter’s surgery.

“Every time my daughter struggled to drink milk,” recalled Ngwe, “My heart was heavy and fearful. When my neighbors ask, ‘Do you think your baby will survive,” it made me want to cry.”

Then the couple learned about a program that offered free surgery for children with cleft lips. Thanks to YOU, Operation Blessing paid for Yadanar to receive the surgery needed to repair her cleft lip and palate at a hospital in the city. The operation was a success!

“Now, Yadanarhas gained weight, and is a healthy, happy little girl,” her dad noted. “My daughter smiles so brightly now! No one will make fun of her anymore.”

“My relatives say she is very beautiful,” added her grateful mom. “She speaks more clearly and is easy to understand. I’m so grateful that we met Operation Blessing. Thank you!”
